Grace Yvonne
Kelly Williams
Oct 9, 1944 — Aug 23, 2025
Palatka
Grace Williams lived in Northern California for 48 years. She was God's humble servant who gave back to several ministries and had a passion for youth. She passed away in Pleasanton California on August 23, 2025.
Grace Williams (Kelly) was born in 1944, in Palatka, FL to Bernice and J.B. Kelly. She had an older brother James Burnett Kelly and a younger sister Elaine Kelly. Growing up in the segregated South had a profound effect on her life since she witnessed a considerable amount of inequality. She understood the importance of education and it was a gateway to a better future. She was real active at Central Academy High School, where she was voted most likely to succeed. After Central Academy she earned her Bachelor's Degree from Spelman College. Although "Yvonne" was about taking care of business, she definitely enjoyed having a good time. Her classmates often wondered how she always received excellent grades since she was hanging out with them? The secret sauce; studying late at night while everyone is sleeping. She understood the balance between academics and friendship which made her a well rounded person. She was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
Upon graduation, she returned home and worked briefly as a teacher in Palatka before having a long career at Social Security, which led her to California. In California, she served as Pastor's wife to Norris L. Williams in the A.M.E. church. She enjoyed giving back to kids and the community. She always believed in helping others and she was very loving. She truly embraced the concept in raising a village, which is a value that was instilled in her growing up in Palatka, FL.
Although, Grace lived in California and travelled the world, Palatka held a special place in her heart. Palatka was home and she had fond memories of her family living there. Her face would light up when she told stories about her parents and siblings in Palatka. Her final resting place will be in her hometown of Palatka.
She is preceded in death by her parents J.B. Kelly and Bernice Kelly, sister Elaine Kelly, husband Norris L. Williams, daughter in-law Atarah Robinson, Niece Doris Williams.
