Obituary

The royal Queen, Eunice Lewis, fondly known as "Tatty", was born on September 22, 1944 to the parents of Isaac Banks and and Pearline Hussey in a rural village in Mount Charles, Jamaica. She has two brothers and one sister, namely Basil Phillips, Oswald Bolton, and Ruth Jeffrey.

She attended Paisley Primary School, aced Oberlin High School, and excelled at Shortwood Teachers' College. Skillfully mastering her internship at White Marl Primary School and gifted in the area of the Arts, she obtained a job at Haile Selassie High School as an Educator. Her passion for the young peoplepropelled her into the field of Guidance Counselling, where she impacted the lives of countless young adults, including her beloved Lavern Nembhard and Wayne Morrison, to name a few.

While at Haile Selassie High School, she met her dear friend, Mrs. Theresa Swaby, who would eventually play the piano as Eunice was wedded to Mr. Lauriston Lewis, Sr on July 31, 1971. The union brought forth two beautiful children, namely Lauriston Lewis, Jr and Lecia Cook, whom she ensured knew and loved the Lord. The family and others looked forward to Christmas and Easter, where she would bake her famous buns and fruit cakes and sew some of the best clothes money could buy.

Seeking a better life, the family migrated to the United States in 1987, where she continued to love on and house more young people, including Richard Staine and Keisha Cooper, who crowned her with the name "Mommy Lew." With a hunger for learning, she obtained multiple Master's Degrees and ensured that any child connected to her achieved their education. Fulfilling her purpose, she continued to impact the lives of the youth at St. Angela Merici School and Rice High School, from whence she retired. With a full quiver, she was the grandmother of Lauriston Lewis III, Lahmar Lewis, Lennard Lewis, Kaitlin Cooper, Larissa Lewis, Aleci Cook and Samuel Cook. She matured with grace and elegance up to her last breath. May her life and legacy provoke you to impact the world and make it a brighter place. Shine bright like a diamond as Eunice did!
