Douglas Edward Chappel 58 was called home on Monday, February 20, 2023. Douglas was born on September 2, 1964, to Jesse James Chappel and the late Earnestine Chappel (September 6, 1999) in Magnolia, Arkansas. After graduating from Magnolia High School in 1983, and attending Southern Arkansas University, he joined the United States Army. He served his country for more than 20 years (1984 – 2005), retiring honorably and garnering numerous awards for his stellar service. These awards are truly many and include the following:

Global War on Terrorism Service Medal Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device Joint Service Commendation Medal Southwest Asia Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Star Kuwait Liberation Medal Bronze German Armed Forces Parachutist Badge United Nations Service Medal Douglas had a contagious personality, and he never met a stranger. These two amazing qualities made him a friend to so many. He loved his family more than anything. But his love for fishing was a close second. He could fish every day. He always managed good catches and shared them with neighbors and friends.

His family loved him more than anything as well and he will live on in the hearts of his wife, Marsha Chappel, his father Jesse James Chappel, mother-in-law Maggie Ashley, siblings Margie (James) Russ, and James (Claudia) Chappel, brother-in-law Edwin Ashley; his children Mauriel I know who 000 Jacksonville, Daniel Chappel and Christian Chappel; and his nieces Michelle Russ and Adria Chappel.
