Calvin Henry Smith Sr. was born June 20, 1928, in Putnam Hall, Putnam County, Florida to Antonio M. Smith, and Bessie F. Smith. In 1948 Mr. Smith married Jannett Y. Osgood in Palatka, Florida where they have lived for 79 years. He was the second oldest of four (4) children, Marian S. Willis, Oscar Smith, Mazarene S. Whitfield. Mr. Smith was employed at Hudson Pulp Paper Mill now known as Georgia – Pacific for 35 years. He also faithfully worked for D.A. Boyd & Sons Funeral Home as a staff member for over 20 years. Mr. Smith accepted Christ as his personal Lord and savior at an early age and become a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He was affiliated with the Masonic family for over 70 years and an active member of Beauty Lodge # 35, formally wishful master of Palatka, Florida. He was preceded in death by his Father, Antonio M.Smith Mother, Bessie F. Smith Sister, Marian S. Willis (Columbus), Brother, Oscar Smith (Lorrine), Sister, Mazarene S. Whitfield (Mathew), Son Lawrence "Gary" Holland (Linda) and son – in -law, James "Lightning" Mitchell, Jr. (Cavonna). Their union was blessed with five (5) children, one (1) Daughter, Cavonna S. Mitchell, Palatka, FL. Four (4) Sons, Berry G. Smith, Palatka, FL. Calvin H. Smith, Jr. (Dora), Springfield, Ma. Lutrell S. Smith, Sr., (Connie), Palatka, FL. Malcom L. Smith, Sr., (Mandy), Palatka, FL. Calvin   attended Dunbar High School in Green Cove Springs, FL. He was also affectionately known as "Cadillac Man" and also as "Pedro." He loved spending time fishing in his boat, playing billard games, enjoying family cookouts, watching westerns movies, sporting events, the news, traveling, and visiting with friends. On Friday, August 27,2021 at the age of 93 years the Lord called Mr. Smith home at 4:12 A.M at Haven Hospice / Roberts Care Center, Palatka, FL. Calvin leaves to mourn, (1) Daughter, (4) Sons, (4) Daughter – in – laws, (1) Sister in – law, (1) Brother in – law, (9) Grandchildren, (17) Great-Grandchildren, (5) Great Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews great nieces, great nephews, cousins, lodge brothers, friends and ex -co -workers. Due to Covid -19 there will not be a repast. A public social distancing viewing for friends will be  5 – 7 P.M Friday, September 3,     2021, at D.A. Boyd Sr. Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be 10 A.M Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, Palatka, FL. D.A. Boyd & Sons Funeral Home in charge of all Arrangements. Mask are required at all services.
